What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative way to straighten your teeth without using metal brackets and wire. It’s an effective treatment for both teens and adults when it comes to correcting misaligned bites, including:

The treatment involves the use of clear, plastic aligners that are custom-fit to your teeth. Using advanced technology, Dr. Lee creates a customized treatment plan using digital scan technology to predict how your teeth move throughout treatment. You change aligners about every two weeks to ensure your teeth continue to progress into the right position.

What can I expect while using the aligners?

The custom-fit aligners rest comfortably over your teeth. It can take a few days to adapt to speaking with the aligners in place. Dr. Lee determines how long you need to wear the aligners each day, but typically you can expect to have them in for up to 22 hours daily.

The clear aligners are made from durable SmartTrack® plastic material, and you can remove them easily when eating or drinking. Aligners are also easy to care for, and you should take them out several times a day to clean them and brush your teeth. You can gently brush away debris and bacteria, rinsing your aligner thoroughly before replacing them in your mouth.

How long do I need to wear Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign treatments are much faster than correcting your teeth with traditional braces. Dr. Lee can determine how long you need to wear the aligners to achieve your teeth-straightening goals.

Typically, you can expect a much shorter treatment time than with metal braces. Many people need to wear aligners for up to 12 months, rather than the 24-month average with traditional braces. You may need more or less time to achieve your desired results, depending on the severity of your bite issues.

Am I too old for Invisalign treatments?

No. People of any age can benefit from painless Invisalign treatments. The aligners work well for both adults and teenagers.

An advantage of Invisalign over traditional metal braces is that the clear aligners are virtually unnoticeable. You can enjoy the benefits of straighter teeth without the embarrassment and discomfort of having metal brackets and braces.
