We are looking forward to meeting you! The initial examination and consultation is a complementary service provided for our patients. We encourage the attendance of all adults who will be involved in the decision-making and financial aspects of your child’s treatment. It is important to us that you and your family are, and remain, well informed and comfortable with the plan of treatment, both prior to initiation of that treatment and throughout the treatment phase. Should you choose to initiate treatment for your child, you will, at each appointment, be kept abreast of all procedures that have and will be performed, and the overall progress made toward treatment goals. At Lee Orthodontics in Concord, CA, we are always glad to welcome new patients to our Concord office. It’s a chance for us to get acquainted and for you to learn which of our orthodontic services (braces or Invisalign) could improve and strengthen your smile.
What to Expect
Your first visit will begin by meeting one of our receptionists or patient coordinators who will take some information from you and bring you through the office. Then it’s time for a thorough diagnostic examination. During the complimentary exam, Dr. Lee will also review your basic medical and dental information regarding any past or current conditions that may affect your orthodontic diagnosis and future treatment. After the exam we may dedicate some time to your diagnostic records. Diagnostic records include X-rays, photos, and impressions for study models, all of which are necessary to develop an appropriate individualized treatment plan. Following that, you and your orthodontist will discuss the best orthodontic treatment options for your needs. Please allow approximately 30mins to an hour for your consultation appointment so that we can be sure to answer all of your questions.
Questions Addressed
During your first visit we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment:
- Do you have a condition that orthodontic treatment can remedy?
- Is treatment needed now, or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors have occurred?
- What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
- How long will treatment take?
- How much does treatment cost?
- What are the available payment options?
Once we have addressed these general questions, we encourage you to ask additional questions you may have. We are always happy to talk more in depth about your orthodontic treatment choices, what to expect at different stages of your orthodontic journey, and anything else you wish to talk about further.
What to bring to your first appointment
In order for your first visit to run as efficiently as possible, we request that you please bring the following information to our Concord, CA office with you:
- Any panoramic X-rays taken of your teeth/mouth within the last six months
- Insurance card or information
- If you want to save time in the office, you can print the new patient form from the website and fill it out and bring it in.
After initial consultation
At the end of your first visit to our Concord office you’ll have a thorough understanding of how we can help you get the best smile possible. After your initial consultation, we will schedule an appointment to place your new orthodontic appliance. If you have completed all your dental work with in 6months, we can start your orthodontic appointment same day as your initial consultation. The appointment where you get your appliance put in place (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes from 45mins to an hour.
Scheduling appointments
After this you will see us at regular intervals 4 to 8 weeks apart for adjustments which take about 15 to 40 minutes each visit. Adjustment visits are by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. We understand that “life happens”! If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. We are open early mornings, evening and weekends. We are open even on Sundays to accommodate everyone’s busy schedule. Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
